The exhibition showcases the work of designers from the Nordic countries and Russia.
The exhibition is divided into two thematic sections: Culture of Everyday Life. Recycle, dedicated to the use of recycled materials in product design, and Trash to Fashion, dedicated to fashion design.
Design stars from the Nordic countries were invited to participate in order to demonstrate the wide range of possibilities offered by raw materials from household waste. An important part of the exhibition is the Zero Waste Bistro, a temporary restaurant initiated by the Finnish Institute in New York on the occasion of the WantedDesign Manhattan fair in 2018. This project was carried out by designer Linda Bergrot and the Durat company, Finland. Norwegian designers Snøhetta present an example of circular design: chairs made from fishing nets. For the GESSO ceiling lights, Danish designer Jonas Edvard used an experimental renewable material made from seaweed combined with paper waste.
